What ERO found

The Education Review Office’s latest report on the school is a School Evaluation Report from September 2024. ERO found that most learners reach expected levels in reading, writing and maths, though gains across the school have been uneven, gaps remain for some groups, particularly Māori learners, and have widened for some, and that a structured approach to junior literacy is starting to lift reading.

Teachers and learners have respectful, collaborative relationships, the school’s values programme and leadership roles support behaviour and wellbeing, and attendance has improved. ERO also noted growing ties with local hapū and iwi through the Kāhui Ako, and a board that works closely with the community.

The agreed next steps are to lift reading, writing and maths for every learner, with faster progress for those below curriculum expectations, make planning and teaching in literacy and maths more consistent across classes, set up shared ways for teachers and leaders to check what is working, and keep improving regular attendance. The plan sets early actions, checks every six months and a yearly evaluation.
