About the Park

Crown Park was developed as a dedicated sports ground to consolidate football and other outdoor sport in Taupō. The eight playing fields are laid out on pumice soils that drain well after rain, reducing downtime after wet weather — an advantage that makes the park useable throughout most of the year. Each field measures 100 metres by 70 metres and meets standard dimensions for competitive play.

Six changing rooms with showers serve both home and visiting teams during matches and tournaments. Ample car parking is available at the park for matchday use. The floodlit training areas allow evening training sessions during the shorter daylight months of the year.

BMX and Pump Track

Within Crown Park is a BMX track and a sealed pump track for riders of all levels. The pump track in particular suits a wide range of skill levels — younger riders can ride the flowing surface without needing to pedal, while more experienced riders use it for speed and technique training. The track is free to use outside of club events.

Football in Taupō

Taupō AFC is the main football club based at Crown Park and competes in regional competitions across the Waikato and wider North Island. The park hosts home games and training for multiple age groups. Crown Park also hosts school sport events and regional tournaments, which can bring significant numbers of visiting teams to the grounds on weekends.
