What ERO found
The Education Review Office’s latest report on the school is a Te Ara Huarau School Profile Report from July 2024. The report notes that the Ministry of Education had appointed a limited statutory manager to support the board and leaders.
ERO and the school agreed to evaluate students’ progress, achievement and wellbeing as the school moves to the New Zealand Curriculum.
ERO pointed to strengths the school can draw on: a supportive staff team with shared values and faith, a readiness to learn from the wider education community including its Kāhui Ako, and leadership that has built good working relationships between teachers and whānau.
The school’s priorities are to finish its curriculum changes and embed them across the school, put its planned assessment and reporting processes in place, and keep reviewing student wellbeing, improving pastoral care where needed.

Enrolling
There is no home zone. The school takes preference enrolments from Christian families and non-preference enrolments from other families, with a separate application form for each. After applying, the child and both parents have an interview with the principal, and parents complete an orientation.
Compulsory attendance dues apply, paid to the school’s trust towards the buildings and grounds, and the school also asks for a special character donation.
